  • DePuy Synthes announced two new additions to its Attune Knee line, Attune Cementless Fixed Bearing Knee w/ AFFIXIUM 3D porous coating (tibial component) and Attune Medial Stabilized Knee.(medial stabilized fixed-bearing insert), that can be used with other Attune components.

  • On FY21 performance, Biogennix’s CEO Chris MacDuff also mentioned the Company saw increasing sales for its newest product, Agilon Moldable, esp in the F&A surgery market. The company also continued to see consistently strong growth of Agilon Moldable in the spine market segment.

  • Acumed’s US Patent Application “HEADLESS COMPRESSION SCREW HAVING AN ATTACHMENT MECHANISM” was published describing a cannulated headless compression screw w/ an attachment mechanism that enables coupling various attachments to the screw. 20220079642

  • Micro-Inertial Navigation for Spine SurgeryA study of 216 pedicle screw placements porcine models w/ a novel navigation system using micro-inertial navigation system & bioelectrical impedance analysis to guide screw placement reported 15 pedicle breaches in the navigated group & 31 in the freehand group.     Xlife Sciences AG and curasan AG established a joint venture biosurgical company, Novaxomx GmbH. The company will focus on development and commercialization of biosurgical therapies for musculoskeletal disease.

  • MediView XR Secures $9.9MM in Funding 
    MediView XR announced the close of a $9.9MM round of SAFE financing syndicated by Inside View Investments to fund company milestones including FDA submissions & commercialization. MediView’s XR90 Augmented Reality Surgical Navigation System is slated for FDA submission in H222.

  • Medtronic*
    MDT announced it has entered into a contract w/ Vizient, a US healthcare performance improvement company serving > half the nation's acute care providers, to add Touch Surgery Enterprise, MDT’s AI-driven OR surgical video mgmt & analytics platform to Vizient's offerings..

Clinical/Regulatory:

  • Smith & Nephew* 

    In an announcement related to the company’s participation at AAOS, SNN noted REGENETEN has been cleared for two new indications in the United States: gluteus medius hip repair and Achilles tendon repair.

  • Clinical Performance of Ennovate Complex

    A post-market follow-up study on the clinical performance of Ennovate Complex will follow the post-operative results of 200 subjects who undergo surgical correction for hypokyphosis, hypolordosis and/or scoliosis. Clinicaltrials.gov

  • ZetaMet* - Zetagen*
    Zetagen is initiating a 10-pt study in Canada to assess feasibility of ZetaFuse (ZetaMet) Bone Graft in the repair of bone defects from metastatic breast cancer in the spinal vertebral body. Anticipated study completion date is April 2023. clinicaltrials.gov

  • MAKO* - Stryker* 

    Tomah Health in Wisconsin now offers robotic-assisted knee & hip procedures using its MAKO SmartRobotics System.

  • FY21 Bone Growth Factor Market
     US Bone Growth Factor Market revenue was $623.6MM in FY21, according to SmartTRAK Financial Dashboard. This was driven by an uptick in elective procedures YoY and a change to the model based on new market intelligence. Prior Q1-Q3 numbers have been edited accordingly.

  • Knee+* - Pixee*
    Pixee Medical announced its Knee+ AR computer-assisted orthopedic platform is going to be commercially available in the US & will be launched at the 2022 AAOS meeting. The solution was launched commercially in Jan 2021 in EU & AU.

 Revenues:

  • Kuros*

    Kuros reported FY21 product sales revenue of ~$8.9MM (CHF 8.3MM), up 107% YoY. The company noted strong sales of MagnetOs in the US and successful launch in several new European countries.

  • Medacta*

    For 2021, Medacta reported its Extremities business line (including Shoulder and Sportsmed revenue) grew +35.4% CC YoY and +98.5% CC from 2019 to ~$20.8MM (€19.0MM).Medacta 2021 Earnings Release

  • SeaSpine*
    Seikagaku highlighted that for the first nine months of FY21 (ended Dec 31, 2021), Supartz FX sales volume increased due to the market rebounding from the impact of COVID-19 in the previous year. Seikagaku exports increased as a result of earlier than-planned shipment of product.
