AOTI CEO Dr. Michael Griffiths discusses the company, its unique, topical oxygen therapy, and creating a new outcome-based category for home delivery of advanced wound care in an interview with SmartTRAK.
Advanced Oxygen Therapy, Inc. SmartTRAK: Hi, we are here today with Dr. Mike Griffiths, CEO and medical director of AOTI to discuss their multimodality topical wound oxygen therapy product. AOTI is the market leader in the overall topical oxygen therapy sector in SmartTRAK. And I wanted to talk today about the progress at AOTI and then how Dr. Griffiths, you're viewing the evolution of the wound care sector as a whole. So, we'll start narrow and then we'll kind of go broad. But first, for the audiences who aren't familiar with the product, can you give us an overview of AOTI and how does the technology work? What's the action underpinning the wound healing process and what it's shown to deliver?
Dr. Mike Griffiths: Thanks, Jay. Yes, and I'm happy to be here. So, AOTI, as you said, we are the clear leader in the topical oxygen therapy sector in wound care, but we're also quite a different company, unlike other topical oxygen companies or other companies in the wound care space, in that we're actually focused on creating a new outcome-based category of delivering clinical outcomes to patients, chronic care patients at home, which obviously incorporates our unique topical wound oxygen therapy, but also our "eyes on the wound" platform that allows us to engage with the patients and providers and payors to deliver the more durable healing outcomes on every patient that we treat. The therapy itself is quite unique.

And when those levels of oxygen drop too low, the body's ability to combat pathogens is compromised. So, the neutrophils, the immune functions, the leukocytes can't function very well when the oxygen levels are very low, which means even small amounts of pathogens and colonizations, not active infections, can cause an antagonistic effect on the immune system and hence the wounds get stalled in the inflammatory phase.
So, what we do is we create a ...
