Approximately $800MM was invested across wound care and regenerative medicine during 2025-2026, with Solventum’s $850MM acquisition of Acera Surgical, post its spin-off from 3M, the most significant strategic activity of the year. Acera Surgical commercializes RESTRATA– a synthetic electrospun fiber matrix for advanced wound care applications, with sales projected at $90MM in 2025.
In January 2026, Medicare restructured the CAMPs (Cellular, Acellular, and Matrix-like Products) reimbursement pricing, shifting from average sales price (ASP) to a flat rate of $127.14 per/cm2 causing a 90% reduction in pricing and no coverage for wastage. This dramatic reduction in pricing has put significant financial pressure on industry and providers which will limit access to care of advanced products in non-facility settings such as wound clinics, nursing homes and mobile health. Until the CAMPs reimbursement landscape self-corrects, there is going to be a lot of market consolidation and a push towards more clinical evidence and pay-for-performance-based strategies. On the short horizon, several companies have pivotal advanced biologics, drugs and cell-based therapies with compelling Phase II and III clinical data for healing chronic wounds. What’s even more interesting is that the Advance Wound Care (AWC) Market, which has historically been a medical device top-heavy industry, is converging with the biotech and pharmaceutical regenerative medicine field (RegenMed). This convergence of AWC with RegenMed is providing new opportunities for collaborative research agreements, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and initial public offering (IPO) activity that will drive growth in mid-2026 and into the later part of the decade.
